Who we are

Character Namer (characternamer.com) is operated by Brytin Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number14806911, registered office 5 Cleveland Place West, Bath, BA1 5DG ("we", "us"). We are the controller of personal data processed through this site, and we are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration numberZC256170. The name generators

The name generators run entirely in your browser. No names are generated on our servers and we make no calls to AI services. If you use Copy link, the list's code and the options you chose are placed in the web address, so that anyone you share it with sees the same list.

The rapper name generator's From your name mode turns a name you type into stage-name ideas. The name is processed in your browser only: it is not sent to us or anyone else, not stored and not put in the share link.

Your light/dark theme choice and the names you save as favourites are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. This is functional storage that makes the site work as you asked; it is not used to track you or for advertising. They are not sent to us and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings or (favourites) on the Favourites page.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Where ads are shown:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Google and its partners may process data such as your IP address, device and browser information, approximate location and the pages you visit, as independent controllers under their own privacy policies.

Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalised ads and related cookies are used. The consent message is provided by Google, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Privacy choices link in the footer. If you refuse, you may still see non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies only where the law allows.

US state privacy rights

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other applicable states), you may have the right to know what personal information is processed about you, to delete it, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies used by Google and its partners may count as "sharing" or "selling" under these laws. Where ads are shown, you can opt out at any time with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on our site, inGoogle's Ads Settings, or by emailing us at the address on the Contact page (hello@characternamer.com).

Analytics

We do not currently use analytics tools on this site. If we add them, this section will say which ones and how they work.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you email us

If you contact us by email we use your address and message only to reply, and keep them for 12 months after the last exchange after our last exchange, unless we need them longer to deal with a legal claim. Emails to hello@characternamer.com are forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our email provider. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Legal bases

• Consent: for personalised advertising cookies and similar technologies where the law requires it.
• Legitimate interests: to run, secure and fund this free website (hosting, security, aggregate analytics, and non-personalised ads where permitted), and to reply to messages you send us.

International transfers

Google and Cloudflare may process data outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer relies on safeguards recognised by UK and EU law, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, or standard contractual clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Their privacy policies describe the safeguards they use.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email hello@characternamer.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

This site is for a general audience of writers, game players and creators, including teenagers. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Local storage keys: theme (your light/dark choice, set when you press the theme button), fav:v1 (your favourites, set when you first press ☆). This site sets no cookies while it shows no ads.
